Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a glass memorial?

Glass memorials offer a meaningful way to honor and remember a lost loved one. They are created by encasing cremated ashes from a person or animal in molten glass. These memorials can be crafted into marbles for display or personal carrying, as well as pendants or bracelets for wearing. Each piece is entirely unique, reflecting the individuality of the loved one it commemorates.

  • What is the process of ordering a memorial?

To begin, please send a message via this website, email, or social media describing the type of memorial you would like. We’ll discuss colors and ways to make it unique to the individual. You can either mail the ashes to me or drop them off at your convenience. Generally, the memorial will be completed within 2-3 weeks. I accept payment via cash, e-transfer, or credit card.

  • How much ash do you need?

Only a small amount of ash is required—approximately one teaspoon is sufficient to create one or two memorial pieces. Any remaining ash will be returned or, upon request, respectfully scattered in nature.

  • Do you work with the ash of only pets? Or people too?

I work with all types of ash remains, whether from people, cats, dogs, birds, or farm animals. I'm also interested in creating memorials using locks of hair, so feel free to reach out if you're looking for something unique like that!

  • I’m not comfortable handling the ash, what can I do?

This is completely understandable. If you have a friend or neighbor who may be willing to assist, don’t hesitate to ask—they’ll likely empathize and be happy to help. Alternatively, I recommend reaching out to someone at a crematorium for assistance.

  • Are they fragile?

The memorials are crafted from a durable glass known as borosilicate, which, when properly annealed, is exceptionally strong. It is highly resistant to scratches and can withstand temperature fluctuations. However, like all glass, it may break if subjected to significant impact against a hard surface.

  • What happens with the leftover ash?

Any ash that is remaining after the order is made will be returned to you with the memorials. If requested, I can scatter the ash in nature, respectfully and with permission of the land owner.

  • What are my color options?

I offer a wide range of colors, including various shades of colors from the rainbow and reactive hues that transform with heat/flame exposure. I greatly value when clients share photos and stories, as it helps me create more personalized pieces. I also appreciate the creative freedom to craft something truly unique for each individual.

  • How do I know it's my loved ones ashes?

I approach this work with the utmost seriousness, viewing it as a deeply spiritual process. Every memorial I create is treated with the highest level of respect and care. Upon arrival at my studio, clients' ashes are carefully labeled and organized. I work with only one set of ashes at a time, ensuring the integrity of each piece, and all tools are thoroughly cleaned between the creation of each keepsake.

  • Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I work with clients across Canada and internationally. When shipping ashes, documentation from the crematorium is required. This can be as simple as a note accompanied by a business card and contact information.
